Whilst Village Three will see the construction of a Town Centre with the provision of a major supermarket and all the usual retail facilities you would expect for such a major development, each of the individual villages will have its own ‘Local Centre’ meeting the doorstep needs of its residents.
Lakeview Local Centre is now established and includes local shops, a village hall and opportunities for health and nursery services to be provided as the community grows.
Lakeview village hall provides a multi use facility for Wixams residents. The hall was delivered by Gallaghers and handed over to the Wixams community group who will manage the facility going forward. The hall is available for bookings from the 30th March 2013.
Something for all age ranges.
Allied to the delivery of the Village Hall is an
all weather multi-use Games Area. available for 5
a-side football, Netball and Tennis, etc.
Sports Pitches
Grass and artificial turf sports pitches have now been completed and a pavillion / changing room complex will follow in 2013 to provide a comprehensive sporting facility, meeting the needs of all age groups.
Although Wixams will ultimately benefit from a comprehensive town centre retail development in Village Three, the every day needs of Lakeside residents will be catered for in a local centre shopping complex set adjacent an attractive lakeside setting.
The first phase (a convenience store) opened
for business in November 2012.
Whilst Lakeside is still a fledgling community, it is already developing its own sense of identity. The Wixams Community Group has been formed and has set up its own web site where information on the latest news and activities can be found.
