Wixams housebuilders are appointed.
Master Developer Gallagher has appointed a number of leading housebuilders to develop the first homes at Wixams.
The housebuilders are Bloor Homes, Carey Homes, George Wimpey, Lagan Homes, Leach Homes, Miller Homes and Taylor Woodrow – and each will develop their own plots within Village One, the first phase of Wixams to be built.
Gallagher Project Director, Ian Hardwick said, “We receive many enquiries from people interested in finding out more about living at Wixams. The homes will include both market and affordable housing, with a range of types and sizes of properties. Within Village One, in addition to housing, there will also be a lower school, sports pitches, large areas of open space and a village centre providing a mix of community, retail, recreational and commercial facilities, with further facilities planned across the wider settlement.”

Master Developer Gallagher has produced a detailed Design Brief and Code to ensure all houses are delivered to a consistently high standard, with reference to local building styles. Gallagher will undertake delivery of the overall development, working with the housebuilders and contractors to ensure that the Wixams vision of a high quality, attractive and sustainable community is consistently delivered.
The first phase of Wixams infrastructure work, which commenced in early 2007, is progressing well, enabling housebuilding to commence from autumn 2007. The works have been carefully planned to minimise disruption to the local and wider communities as far as possible and a strict code of construction practice is in place, which all housebuilders and contractors will sign up to.
Situated three miles south of Bedford, around the former Elstow Storage Depot land, the project will see a 750 acre brownfield site transformed into four garden villages, a town centre and an employment area, offering homes, jobs, schools and community facilities.
