Wixams Joint Development Committee, which represents the interests of both Bedford Borough and Mid Beds District councils resolved to grant planning consent for the 4,500-home new community in October 2004.
Following the completion of the Section 106 legal agreement in June 2006, Gallagher commenced work on the development site in January 2007.
There are areas of contaminated land within the former depot site and an extensive programme of remediation work will be carried out by specialists, operating under strict supervision.
